WAR PRIZES: The Album

Published in 1994 and in print virtually ever since, the Midland title War Prizes, was an illustrated history of the German, Italian and Japanese aircraft brought to Allied countries after the Second World War for testing and evaluation. Because it provided a detailed narrative of the testing and evaluation programmes, the space devoted to photos was limited. This is redressed in this new volume.

War Prizes: The Album illustrates in much greater depth the aircraft types featured in the original volume. It has photos of each type in the markings of the Allied countries which operated them. One aspect of the subject which will have notably better coverage here, is that of Axis aircraft which found their way into Russian hands. Since the collapse of the Soviets a lot more material from Russia has become available. The great majority of photos which appear in this book were not published in the earlier book.

The aircraft are portrayed in alphabetical order of manufacturer. The photographs are accompanied by detailed captions. This is a fascinating subject which will find a wide audience among aviation enthusiasts and modellers who will find ideas for many interesting projects in the pages of this book.
