TUPOLEV Tu-114: Red Star Vol.31

Based upon the Tu-95 strategic bomber, the Tu-114 was the largest airliner constructed to that time, accommodating up to 220 passengers. It confounded Western experts by being able to fly at speeds similar to those achieved by jet aircraft, whilst still using turboprop technology. Aeroflot operated 31 aircraft on long-range internal and international services, some subsequently converted to Tu-126 AWACS aircraft. 51 colour and 194 b/w photos. Line drawings.
