The 1960s offered amazing variety for the aviation enthusiast. Many countries still had big air forces flying a wide range of types. Most aircraft were in basic silver with full colour squadron markings. Many transports and trainers had gaudy day-glo liveries. Compared to the grey aircraft of today with their plain markings, it was a kaleidoscope of colours.
Just to list some of the aircraft featured in the book will be enough to excite air enthusiasts. RAF and Royal Navy types include the Argosy, Belfast, Belvedere Canberra, Comet, Lightning, Meteor, Mosquito, Phantom, Shackleton, Sycamore, Valetta, Valiant, Victor, Vulcan, Buccaneer, Scimitar, Sea Hawk, and Sea Venom. The United States air arms are represented with aircraft such as C-54, C-124, C-133, HU-16, F-100, F-101, T-39, T-33, C-47, B-58 and many others. Aircraft from many NATO and unaligned countries are also covered including Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Finland, Holland, Germany, Jordan, Malaysia, Norway, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, Sweden and Switzerland.
This book is a wonderful exercise in aviation nostalgia which will attract a wide range of aviation enthusiasts and aero-modellers.
