Historical survey of the line that closed in 1916 and its rails sold to assist the war effort and after a vigorous campaign by the local population re-opened in 1924. It only remained open for passengers until September 1932, making a loss for every year of re-opening, and for freight until May 1936. Unusually the branch featured in two feature films: 'The Wrecker' in 1928, with a staged rail crash, and 'Oh Mr Porter' with Will Hay in 1937.
